These galleries show you the layouts that are permanently erected in our premises where you can visit to enjoy these in operation.
Stonedale
The Stonedale Layout is Chesterfield Railway Modeller's rejuvenation of an old club layout and creates a preservation centre close to a Peak District terminal station
These photographs show our 'heritage' layout. Built in the mid to late 1970's the layout shows Chesterfield's MPD between the 1930's and 1960's. While it shows its age in some ways it is full of atmosphere and we have a long term project to rejuvenate it. Come and join us and help do this.
We have had this layout knocking about the clubroom for years. It's a little diesel shed and small station. The scenery was a bit basic so that's been improved with the refuelling tanks and other improvements. Re-wiring has proven tricky!!! Two of our members have stripped the wiring out and redone it. We've designed the signage so we can change periods from the 1960s, through the Blue Period to Modern Image. We will bring the layout to future exhibitions and we will change the time period on different days,
This small, North American logging layout was given to the club and one of our members, Malcolm W, took it on himself to sort out the trackwork, create a fiddle yard at the rear and extend the scenics with a logging station and interchange. Other members helped in the project to create this attractive layout that is easily transportable to exhibitions,
